Woman With One Tooth Sings

Próspero año nuevo!

SO ALL WHITE was not the Ecuadorian Christmas. At least not in the traditional sense. But here it was foggy - and thus also know, somehow. For cookies, we had just taken care of and the people impressed Pucarás with coconut macaroons, cinnamon and heath sand. What else? There was no church service on Christmas Eve, and the mess has been quite small. But even here, far from home and far away from the traditions that we maintain every year in the family, Christmas was nice!

On Christmas Eve have Polly, Nora and I cooked and ate delicious. Nora and I were indeed struck, but red and mulled wine did not we do without. On the first Christmas Day we went to the feast, now Nora was gone to Quito, to receive her family visit, were it to Leni and Catherine arrived two other YAP volunteers in Pucará. On Boxing Day, were five volunteers from Tabacundo where I had celebrated my birthday in November. It was delicious vegetable lasagna and at the end of the evening were all well fed and happy!

live since Christmas Eve, Polly and I in Peter's estate. Peter is right now - again - not in Pucará and had offered to me, let me here his keys. I was ambivalent for a while something that I would not like to be with my family. But when I then within a week, after I had taken quite a brutal anti-parasite tablets, was sick again, my joy was gone on the Ecuadorian food and my fairly simple accommodation for now I wanted to get out of the rest of family to me alone to.

and appears to have red wine and all the delicious food worked wonders: What are all the teas and magic not managed to reach the European diet - I'm re-established so far! Here, the last days were not only relaxing: two of the guests from Tabacundo were pretty obnoxious and a bit difficult to handle, so I was quite relieved that they destroyed only one goal on Peter's Cottages and otherwise caused no damage had. Perhaps we see from the fact that people of similar age, from similar social backgrounds and geographical backgrounds can be very different. (At least I've not yet met a German volunteer who would behave ...)

Tomorrow I will meet me in Otavalo with Peter, hand him the keys to his country house, and then with him, a group of students from the United States and Polly after Morochos drive. This place is situated at the foot of Cotacachi, and Peter has held various projects that he supports the community. I myself know the village yet, but indications seem to Peters indigenous culture and tradition there have to be very important.

Until the latter part of January we will stay in Morochos, then we all come back to Pucara, where is Peter's group for four days. I will in any way be responsible for them and accordingly a few days are busy. Annika is also a friend from Germany to visit, and my Christmas dinner with the family stands out as well. A full program during the first days of the new year!

Next, on the fifth or sixth of January, I will leave with Annika to the south, we go to Bolivia! What exactly do we look in Peru and Bolivia, we do not know, but I am sure that we have a lot of new places and faces can see, hear lots of stories and information during the month, we will be traveling together! Where possible there will be while they are traveling to new blog entries, though less frequently.

Until then - all the best for the new year, you all a happy new year!

Gyms For Rent Michigan

gold rush

long ago before Columbus thought he had discovered India and extinguished in the wake a horde of murderous and thieving Spaniard whole peoples and their cultures, lived in the region, which is now called "Intag" and located in the western foothills of the Ecuadorian Andes, the stem of Yumbos. This people had not let himself be taken in by the expanding Inca and traded with the peoples on the coast and with those who lived in the Andean highlands. arrived

As the unscrupulous Europeans in Intag, there was no rescue: Man and culture were doomed. Only several centuries later decided to use a few farmers to the primeval forest covered plateau between the Toabunche and the Íntagfluss for agricultural purposes. As part of the works were necessarily carried out to make the premises habitable, they came upon a large number of traces of previous civilizations and therefore assumed that the place with an almost five hundred had served meter above the surrounding valleys neighborhood level, as a refuge for peoples long extinct: It was decided to give him the name Pucará . From what language is this term, is beyond me - its significance is also familiar to me: Fortress. find

Even today, remnants of the Yumbos: Who umgräbt his field, and this has a bit of luck, meets with potsherds. With a little more luck can bring to light intact pottery vessels. And discover really happy farmers gold jewelry, or at least some gold beads in the fertile soil Intag. As

in the sixties, the area is now a football field, was leveled, well all clay pots full of gold were lifted from the ground. Supposedly they also came across tunnel systems and other things, allow us to imagine that today's population Pucarás in terms of wealth and infrastructure, - sir! - Can not keep up with the settlers and settlers centuries ago.

A few findings are still in the possession of the (involuntary) treasure hunter: My current host father Don Jaime has, for example including two fully intact clay pots, which look like small carafes. Others have converted their alleged discoveries into cash - So houses were made of gold beads with time Japanese pick-ups or two-story. And some of the treasures, it is said, actually made its way into museums!

is spoken on the subject: the Yumbo and their little treasures. I recently asked this very much and a little probing - but very few seem to really like to talk about it. If the Fund ancient treasures at the time led to resentment among the families Pucarás? There has been disagreement about what to do with the gems? May have enriched some of the parties at the expense of others? Was perhaps for a short time here instead of a real gold rush, with all the greed and speculation and cunning - and its beneficiaries have been a guilty conscience?

If it really is that easy to push on ceramics and jewelry of the Yumbos - why no one tries to earn money? Peter told me to start my time here that he every time he was working in the fields, come across at least on clay. In Otavalo on Saturdays are sold iron and earthenware, which I think now no more, that this is just cheap imitations is: It appears that the authorities are certainly not interested in that pre-Columbian history of Ecuador is studied very well. This could mean that areas Pucará something closer look would take to make professional excavations. And maybe it would be not so easy to get at a market for little money to objects which are old and perhaps valuable - and actually belong to the museum!

as Carolina, the head of the Periódico INTAG living in Pucara, recently found out, that in work for the local sewer system, supposedly gigantic bones have been found and that one of the workers in one of these bones to had taken home, she led several conversations in the village and finally put something like this as the conservation authority in the country note: For this information to perform a professional investigation that would take the skeletal remains and the already upscale treasures on the ground.

On Thursday, the gentlemen were supposed to be in Pucara, and we were very curious: Would archaeologists now day and night (and, above all in the rain) sit in a surrounded by caution tape plot, and after with shovels and small brush a layer of earth the other away and to thereby bring a mix of Jurassic Park and Machu Picchu to light? Instead: nothing! No one came.

On Demand Carolinas was told then that it is a pleasure to ready to be visiting Pucará and analyze the situation - alone, they had no car and must therefore be picked up in Quito. (The State servants and public servants are certainly not paid poorly, and the way from Quito to Pucará costs three U.S. dollars sixty.)

For Christmas I would like a Yumboschatz, including golden sarcophagus of the Great Yumbokönigspaar. If not turn up the ladies and gentlemen of the Instituto Nacional de Patrimonio Cultural , I will make myself with a spade from bringing the past to light Pucarás! And the museum will then end up quite certainly nothing like this ...

Advent Advent, the sun is burning! Since

Again is the last post back a long way and it is a bit of what happened. The approaching end of Christmas draws the streets with all sorts of decorations and the stores are visited more. For me and 48 other wwf was an intermediate seminar on the neighboring island of Cebu. There was the opportunity for our situation here with the help of others and reflect each other useful input for the remainder Give time. We are also busy taking part in a "Do not harm" Training and visited a nearby children's home in which two volunteers.
I took the opportunity to advance even to the south of Negros know. So a round trip led to many new experiences, among others, the city of Cebu City, the second largest city in the Philippines.
From here I will speak a few pictures ...

Dragon Ball Doujin Game

New Family 4.0

AS ANY MONTH I also have the beginning of December once again changed my host family. Now I live about twenty minutes' walk below Pucará. My host parents are Jaime Jativa, 53 years old, and his wife Ceyda, 39 years old and four months pregnant. My host brothers and sisters are Gabriela, 14, Francisco 12, Narcisa, 11, Ruth, 7, Diego, 4 and Pamela, 2 1 / 2. The names of the two dogs that were initially pretty aggressive, I have not noticed me.

After nearly a week in the family Jativa I feel very well: All are curious and like to talk with me and the children are very lively and funny - just cute. Once I even move me to , Let me to see with the family every evening novela , an insanely cheesy and exaggerated television series: The offer I simply could not refuse, as nice as I was asked!

that the family is so cute, makes some bets. That there is no shower and I wash with a bucket, for example. Or that way here at the current weather is a single mud. Or that there is not a washboard, but only two less rather than more suitable for washing stones. And that I will be here really stung the first time in at least four months now. Whether it's at my tormentors by fleas or mosquitoes is, I do not know - I hope the latter, assume, however, that my hopes are in vain. (And if there are fleas - then I'll just three or four weeks are bitten, before also available ...)

Don Jaime and Doña Ceyda are very courteous and meet each other very respectfully. You Siezen, despite the many years they have been living together. Even her children Siezen, and me anyway, I will by very few people here speak you, but what strikes me hardly because they generally have been here siezt. (Even many dogs are gesiezt ...) Despite the short time that Don Jaime spent in school - meet four years should be - my host father made seemingly Unlike many people with whom I had been in contact: He knows at least a rough assessment of many political and historical events and seems to have emerged through the reading, making it a very pleasant and interesting interlocutor. Doña Ceyda is more reserved and jump to page Jaime especially if I have questions about specific recipes or other budget issues.

Gabriela (Gabi), the eldest, now lives apparently only for the household. She finished primary school two years ago and then had the opportunity to go to secondary school after Apuela what they refused to do: but they would not. Until they next spring back to school - Narcisa (Nacha) is about to end the seven-year primary school and will soon pass by Gabi Apuela - they will continue to support her mother, cook, wash, make sure peace. Because of their employment, they do not affect me as an adolescent who is in the midst of puberty ...

Nacha, Francisco (Pancho) and Roth go to school in Pucará. The older two are both very funny and laugh at every joke that act on the other hand often serious and quiet - unlike Ruth, Diego and Pamela, play a lot and make noise, and often a funny sight.

completely different that was in my last family: There I spoke only with my host mother, Gloria, because her husband Lauro mostly in his room and was watching TV and the kids looked at me, often with big eyes, but immediately behind any wall or behind her mother disappeared, if I do anything asked . So completely I liked this, and something better was the strange picture of these children not as they told me that they always (!) Are Sun Whether this is related to what you told me about Lauro: Gloria that he had previously always pretty beat up this boy, I do not know. And I will not learn, I suppose.

Aside from my new host family and the outrageous bad weather in Pucará everything as always. I stick with small jobs and extensive online newspaper reading above water. I will also soon may play in the football team Pucarás when I can because I have no pimples and cleated shoes, which will supposedly lead to one game to give me permission. I too have had the Ecuadorian nationality, as is claimed. We'll see!

On Monday Karen comes to Pucará and is one weeks stay here. Karen I only know from e-mail: You want to know Pucará and its inhabitants and will take English classes in the English school. My job will it be to supply them with work in the morning, which puts me to shame now. But there is a - hopefully reasonable! - Find solutions.

Christmas Eve I'm going to spend all likelihood, with a few volunteers here in Pucará. So I will be here almost the entire month and not, as in November, weekly cut off. I'm so far very good: It's a pleasure every day to enjoy the peace and quiet here and talk to people here about God and the world! And every weekend of the new Bundesliga record start to be developed: Since must be the mood so well!

Música Entre los que quieran

ON THE LAST WEEKEND I went to Quito in order to witness at least part of this year's fiestas de Quito . More specifically, I had said it in for the concert at Calle 13, which should be flown in from Puerto Rico to play in the south of the Ecuadorian capital. Besides the fact that my Music Calle 13 anyway like it, I thought the visit of the concert, as necessary, as I get to the music I everywhere here on the ears, have to suffer now pretty. The same old San Juanitos I found during my first days in the country still quite nice, agree with her but quickly became bored. The always very slushy Bachatas I could still hear quite well initially, because they always let me think of Nicaragua, where Bachatas also enjoyed great popularity. But over time I simply can not understand why it is not here, as in Europe, are different tastes, but a single mush! (Of course there are exceptions, so people who bear the Ecuadorian mainstream no longer, and move on to other genres of music - but are a tiny minority!) Particular blatantly dropped me in Quito: There came together under the fiestas many young people on the streets to dance together to drink. Who had a car, brought this up, opened all the doors and put the music on full volume. It lined up so a huge number of cars to each other, each with a different song, so that the dancers had their labor of love, to be brought not by the music from the adjacent vehicles from the clock. Remarkable and terrible at the same time, I found that without exception all cars from songs, and roared the same genre: Reggaeton ! The texts belonging to the sentient Reggaeton artists are often contemptuous of women and promote a lifestyle in which money, cars and drugs play an important role. That is in this video a distinguished Hiphip crew from Berlin not much else - is still at this point a little advertising for me, not made entirely unknown young (women and) men!

Return to Quito.
The match between Ecuador and Venezuela, which I visited with Julian a few weeks ago, I came with a Quiteño in conversation, offered me to be able to live with him whenever I get to Quito. This offer did not reject me, so I, along with Marco and Polly, with Luis, the name of the young man who accommodated. Luis is the owner of a small swimming pool with sauna, just south of the city center. His company is in the ground floor of a multistory building accommodated, the rest of the house is still empty: Luis and his parents are planning to set up a hotel there. Until this plan is implemented in practice, the upper floors will probably continue to be either site or guest room.

On Friday night we drove four of the airport and ran from there to the plaza de toros , the bullring, passing to the reggaeton-car street party. To the bull ring was around a lot going on, the audience was a bit unusual: people in evening dress, which did not try to hide only that they are financially not too badly. And why, when ticket prices of sixty or more dollars? The street party was to be considered interesting: Everywhere the car with the same old music, dancing and drunken people everywhere, and so many pedestrians on the street that was impossible to get through everything for other road users and public transport. Spectacular had the airplanes anflogen just above the heads of the airport!

On Saturday I finally got to meet Julie. I have known for about twenty years and we had planned to meet us again here in Ecuador: Julie is also about "weltwärts" in Ecuador and worked in northern Quito. More is on her work here read. In the evening we went to the south, to the concert Calle 13 Quitumbe. The coaches there were completely overcrowded, it was sung songs by Calle 13, initiated at the bus driver - the atmosphere was excellent! However, we were all afraid that the concert would have been so crowded that no other visitors more inlet would be granted. But this concern was unfounded: we still found space on the festival site, although we are not very close approached to the stage.

The concert itself was beautiful. The mood, however, was rather depressing: The pauses between the pieces seemed like minutes of silence, and at the sight of the people around me, I had my can, that any kind movement would be prohibited. But what gave the band on stage compensated us fully for the trip to Quito residents, the singer of the band with the real name René Pérez said, is like his style a lot about politics, oppression, media, propaganda - and created one or the other fun insert. After nearly two hours, the concert ended and I with the forces at the end, but satisfied.

1 Year Old 96.5 Temperature

THE LAST CENSUS in the Federal Republic of Germany took place one thousand nine hundred eighty-seven, which was the most recent census in the former DDR has even been carried out six years earlier. There are therefore at present no exact data on the population and the exact composition of the population of Germany. Due to incorrect or missing information of emigrants, as well as undocumented immigrants, the actual population differs probably in the hundreds of thousands on the number, which must be read in almanacs and statistics.

Given the fact that Germany has been over twenty or almost thirty years, the Census saved because only the tests conducted in West Germany the equivalent of about half a billion has (!) Cost €, it may seem surprising that Ecuador every ten years such action does! Last Sunday it was again so far: The much heralded censo 2010 had already in advance caused a stir because the entire population was encouraged to stay of seven clock in the morning to five clock in the afternoon at home, not to drink alcohol - the ley seca , the "dry law" was up from Friday night Monday at zero Clock in force - to wait until people get past the counter. Counting and questioning, especially students of secondary schools and their teachers were assigned. Entirely sure I can play but not what was being asked, I sat all day in the coldest and darkest apartment in Ecuador, a few volunteers in Otavalo rent, and waited in vain to make my statements to be allowed.

reportedly were all asked people what gender and what ethnic group they feel they belong (!), How old they are, what education level they have achieved, how much they earn, what languages they speak and so much more. I find it interesting that the first two questions do not belong on the counter inside and meters, but was actually asked. Peter, the whitest inhabitants Pucarás has allegedly stated to be black or to feel black. And for such jokes then life is a whole country one day flat, probably spent half of development cooperation funds year age group.

The long wait was a bit annoying, especially since it was obvious nothing. But endure it was in any case. What really shocked me, has the Círculo de lectores was - teatreros yesterday: The children were required to do it again to a theater with puppets. I would not deny them - but they can not, as the last time to improvise: These were so far always wrestling between donkeys and sheep about, which I thought was not very witty. So yesterday, the devising of a "screenplay" was on the program. And it worked at all: The children have claimed - and I would think that even - that they are neither in school or anywhere else ever had to invent a story! Since it is an almost impossible task to devise a play! I was then really scared and a little depressed, how little imagination the children. Let alone that they never called in this direction have been supported. We all have a long way to go, and I hope that this work will continue in the coming years so that the children have Pucarás a way to at least train their imagination a little! find

Since the twenty-ninth of November in Quito fiestas de Quito place I would visit on weekends. My personal highlight will be the concert of the Puerto Rican band Calle 13th After the weekend I will tell the tale. Ecuadorian culture and the music ... Until then: Have a nice weekend!

Before Period White Discharge

from monkeys and shamans

AGAIN IN Pucara it's pretty much up where it left off: It's raining, is relatively cold and very, very gray. What looks like autumn in Germany, the Ecuadorian winter. Fortunately, Julian and I were able to escape this time of year a little uncomfortable!

completely broke after two rainy days in Quito Julian and I on Tuesday afternoon to Baños on this small town about three hours southeast of Quito and is due to its hot springs, popular with (backpack) travelers. Also its location between the Sierra and the Amazon basin has helped him to a regular place on Route Ecuador traveler. We drove down there to escape the winter Quito - and were wetter technically not rewarded. After all, the bike tour led us through the direction of Puyo Pastaza Gorge towards the Amazon lowlands and always offered us great views into the deep cut in the mountain valley. At the end of our tour, we were able to catch even a glimpse of the Amazon level before the rain started and we returned the next bus took to Baños.

went after the small bike it's pretty straight back to Quito. There, a little stressful program was waiting for us: We had our luggage in the hostel to pick up in the city, submit it at the bus company that would later bring us to Lago Agrio, and then drive to the stadium, hoping to get more tickets: of the Ecuadorian national team friendly match against Venezuela was, and we did not let us miss this event!

For ten dollars we have to get tickets for the opposite stand, and while waiting in line in front of the rather lax controls, we were approached by two young Ecuadorians, with which we us well during the game were talking and could be on my next Quitofahrten a contact point, if I am tired of living in hostels. The game began entertaining, and after three minutes was felt there is already two to zero for the gas-imaging team. Until the mid-term, a further goal came for the home team, and after dreiundneunizg minutes it was four to one.

were remarkable, the sellers and sellers in the stadium: Throughout the game they ran through the ranks and praised their wares loudly: beer, soft drinks, empanadas , candy, chips, cigarettes. Otherwise, the atmosphere was rather tepid. The stands were beiweitem not sold out, as in a friendly match and insignificant in these weather conditions, moreover, would have been during the week and in the evening, probably to be expected worldwide.

Later that night Julian and I got on the bus that would bring Trans Esmeraldas, which are oriente in the , more precisely, to Lago Agrio, northeast of the country near the Colombian border. The eight-hour night ride was horrible, the TV is incredibly loud and the film - "Papá se Volvió loco" - incredibly bad. After all: When we arrived the next day at half past six in the morning clock Lago Agrio, the sun shone! And it was warm.

After breakfast We were tourists and twelve picked by Mariana: This should be for the next five days our guide and bring us safely through the jungle. But first were two and a half more hours on the bus. We drove up to the Cuyabeno Bridge, where our luggage and we were transported in motorized canoes. Now it was two hours on the Cuyabeno River downstream to the lodge. Heading the dense green of the jungle was marvel at the brilliant blue of the butterflies, the incessant chirping of birds. Even monkeys, we were able to even see the pink river dolphins as we could. The boat ride through the jungle was exciting: we had water, the Green jungle and the varied soundscape, which provided for the residents surrounding jungle. No power poles, no houses, no roads, no traffic noise. Only the jungle and we!

Our group consisted of ten people. Next to us were a retired teacher and her daughter from Texas, an Australian couple and four volunteers from Australia participated in the tour. A Swede, a German and two German-English women who had previously driven us on the bus to the bridge, had been assigned to another guide. We were housed in a lodge on the banks of the Cuyabeno: Two wooden houses with single and double rooms and a kitchen and dining pavilion, all made of wood and palm leaves cover, made from the whole plant. Two solar panels serve provided the necessary power supply in the kitchen, the rooms had flashlights and candles. The water came out (rain) water tank, water pump was also fed from the solar panels. Apart from the materials used and the type of energy I had was not the impression that the lodge its name could meet: Eco Lodge. Everything we were served during our stay, was purchased in Quito and Lago Agrio geschippert and then by boat through the jungle was! I would not complain: So good I had to date not yet eaten in Ecuador!

The first night went we with our motor canoe, in which the entire group took place at the Laguna Grande for a swim and view the sunset. That was beautiful: A sunset like on a postcard to a cheesy, plus all the strange noises from the trees that grow around the lagoon and in the lagoon!

On the second day, Friday was a walk in the jungle. We got big trees and small mushrooms to see poisonous frogs and colorful insects. Especially the "lemon ants" I found interesting: The tasted of lemon, "said Mariana - and we were all ants on food! Apart from an ant to me in the Tongue biting has been worth the snack, the ants actually tasted like lemon! After just over two hours we came back to the boat to return to drive to the lodge. The walk was one part interesting - on the other hand, I found it strange that we in the jungle on a dirt track running around, at which the medicinal plants lined up like a forest trail. So completely untouched and all this was not wild. But probably it was also very naive to expect something like this: Where there is a lodge and such organized tours, must have a certain tourist infrastructure put in place ...

afternoon we went again equipped with fishing the lagoon, we fished for piranha! Are to Marianas information not so aggressive and dangerous as I had known it from documentation. Of killer machines that devour each swimmer in a few seconds and jump into boats in order to eat the crew can therefore be no question. (We, however, held fast to this idea to lose the thrill is not!) Julian, who had been looking a long time for this program point - I almost think the only reason he came to Ecuador! - Was also the first with a Piraña on the hook! The second catch should be his, but this time a cat fish. All catches were again thrown into the Cuyabeno: Little Piranhas not provide enough meat for human consumption, and the big ones are often infested with parasites, so that may affect the enjoyment of Pirañafleisches heavily on the health of the connoisseur or the connoisseur ...

the sunset we saw again the water: We went into a branch of the Cuyabeno, watch cormorants and other birds and then went to the places where our driver suspected Mariana and caimans. Unfortunately, we should not have the good fortune to be able to see alligators up close. This had two main reasons: the high water level of the river, which allows the lizards to retreat deep into the undergrowth and to the full moon, the reptiles took the cover of darkness and it so it prevented to leave their hiding places.

the Saturday we used to visit a village downstream. We were shown how the yucca bread is made, a kind of tasteless and white pancake and Germany handle unknown. Much more exciting than this rather bizarre, because as routine acting performance - we were not the first group there ... - Was Nacho: This is the monkey of the village! A villager had bought it on the market in Lago Agrio, in order to release him into freedom, which does not seem to correspond to the plans of the young monkeys: He gets food in the village and a lot of attention from tourists, so he lives with the people the preference in the wild. Meanwhile It would be unlikely anyway that Nacho is still capable of surviving in the wild.

In connection to the Yucca bread baking and to the games with Nacho tried Julian, three of the Australians and I are in the football game at too high temperatures against the villagers and our driver. In the end the home team won with a seven to five, and we were completely done. But a dip in the river, also romped in (specified), piranhas, caimans and river dolphins, we could recover to some extent.

The last part of our excursion led us to a shaman. The priority seems to be of ayahuasca ( Yahe ), a potion that hallucinations causes, and to feed guando (angels trumpet) to put up with the animals, plants, earth and sky, and all other related and to be able to detect the diseases of his patients. The fact that he is actually to be found always how we got to know: With feathers, red face paint and lots of chains around his neck, I doubt it. Again, I suspect that tricked for tourists and a little cheating is. Distortion for the authenticity, or something.

An important activity for the shaman are the groups that go down into the jungle to try ayahuasca. A Russian group had all the way to Ecuador to be taken to meet the shaman at the Cuyabeno: The made to the draft in the traditional style, which provided space available, a ceremony led by its customers and administered the decoction. For such a procedure, per person, approximately seventy dollars are required - a considerable sum, deep in the jungle where there are few opportunities to spend money! In or near Otavalo, every year a meeting with three shamans from three countries and as the concomitant Ayahuascasorten. Participation in a meeting that will cost about three thousand dollars - if you're lucky, you get pleasant hallucinations, with a little luck you pass the whole night long.

Mariana has told us a little about their experiences. Ayahuasca was very pleasant, apart from vomiting before the rush. However, that was necessary and arrange for the cleaning of the body. (Symptoms of poisoning of the organism by the drug she did not interpret the vomiting.) The noise there then from a variety of hallucinations, auditory and visual nature. However, it was always able to distinguish between "vision" and reality. After a few hours, the end effect of ayahuasca, could "not be stuck on it. Anders was the angel's trumpet: The very call for strong hallucinations that put many of the rest of life no longer loswürde. Moreover, it could stop the noise twenty-four hours more. The taking of guando is part of the training as shamans.

The Sunday was spent swimming in the river and later in the lagoon. Rain had set in and forced us to spend the day quietly. That was us right - we had become accustomed to our environment and wild monkeys still were not really impress of river dolphins. How fast it goes!

On Monday morning we drove back to the bridge and from there to Lago Agrio. There is a bus to Quito was ready for departure, and we reached the capital at about ten clock in the evening. With the German-English women and with Águeda and Marco, who arrived in the meantime in the jungle and had completed four days with another group a similar program, we went to a nice hostel in the old town, only to go to Ronda allegedly oldest street Ecuador, where we wanted to drink to my birthday which was on Tuesday on the calendar. The task proved more difficult than expected, this time on Monday night had almost no more open bar! After a beer we started already on the way home, the man behind Thresen was closing time. On Tuesday, we adopted

Águeda, which now should be back in Galicia. Also with other travelers we said goodbye. We shot a small trip through the old town, we saw the impressive Compañía de Jesús with their walls and ceilings of gold and then drove to the north of the city. From there we drove the bus to Cayambe, to get from there to Tabacundo. In Tabacundo there is a farm, working on the numerous volunteers. What exactly is their job, I do not know, but the fact is that together we celebrated my birthday with them. I had bought the necessary ingredients for pizza, so we einheizen the pizza oven and the estate could take a delicious dinner for us! After the somewhat dismal start to the Ronda in Quito was my birthday so still a very nice and fun End ...

Wednesdays Julian and I drove to Otavalo and from there to Pucara. There, waiting, I have already mentioned, most terrible fall weather upon us: fog and rain and cold! There are only a few days together in Ecuador before us, on Saturday Julian travels on to Nicaragua. But we will make the most of the remaining time!

Resin Flower Cabochons In Bulk

where the pepper grows ...

After three weeks it secretive for me again Time for a post.
As announced took place two weeks ago Pintaflores the festival and it was something powerful going on in the small San Carlos. There was a large parade of dancers groups in colorful costumes, dancing many, stationed along the way judges in competition. And in the midday sun! In addition, outside the town hall until late into the night concerts played and there was a large firework that was ended by the onset of torrential rain.

have the following week to visit Charlotte and I made together with colleagues on a trip to Bacolod to another biological demonstration farm that we are far ahead in the compost production. We both decided this for the ride in the back of the pick-ups, which are less well padded, but better ventilated and frozen by any air conditioning system. The thing is, that the journey time along the winding highway at least one and a half hours and the driver of the Foundation nicknamed the "Pilot" not by holding otherwise. But the view and the breathtaking night sky on the way back, the rest made bearable.
Last weekend on Saturday there was a large birthday party of another wwf, which was celebrated with national custom karaoke and suckling pig.

The next morning it still managed the most out of the bed along with some fellow teachers at another WWF and some students a trip to waterfalls south of San Carlos to do. Even if the arrival and the running of rice and grilled chicken as food took a while was forget the trouble when we reached the fantastically beautiful destination of the trip.
Surrounded by seemingly nearly pristine rain forest, we came across a small lake which was fed by a waterfall and, as a waterfall, went further. There was also deep enough to jump in from the adjoining rocks, and further up was even a kind of natural Jacuzzi are for one person. We spent the rest of the afternoon there and ate the delicious food brought, his legs dangling in the cool water. And even before we started the way back I had decided to come back in any case ...

Last Wednesday we were offered the opportunity to attend the visit of a staff member of a English NGO to the farmers in more remote areas in the mountains. So we got an insight into how far the concepts of our model farm are effectively implemented and some beautiful farms to face. (Heinz Erhardt would be proud of me:) I also saw
for the first time how and where the pepper grows! The origin of the above proverb, I was able to easily keep track ... But of course there were also a lot of beautiful rice terraces, sugarcane, maize, banana, papaya, cauliflower, broccoli, Melons and even cocoa!

Immediately the next day waiting for the next highlight directly on us. On that day, the inauguration and blessing of the model farm place along with the recently completed Muskovado factory. For this purpose, were not only the officials of local politics and to be financed by NGOs but also the farmers' group head and the Bishop of San Carlos! After a few solemn words of the blessed bishop Finally, every building and every workplace, including our jobs and our rooms.

After that there was a great feast, of course, again blood soup with pork and related.
can add here is still good that I now even most, have tried from a European perspective dubious culinary delights. So I have to eat on feathers and beak pretty much all body parts and organs of a chicken, including feet ("addidas", based on the form), and intestine. But the rest, including bone, I'll take sooner or later to me as "Balut", a duck's egg hatched about 14-18 days, which is sold on the streets at night than a delicacy.
Those are the notable features of recent weeks.
My work in the lab is now up and running all right and some steps are already routine. Apart from the potatoes, I will probably deal next week, with bananas, as some farmers have expressed interest in seedlings. As far as the latest from Negros.

November Rain

ALSO IN ECUADOR there is a right November rains for a week there. The misery began on last Tuesday afternoon with a remarkable rain fell, and initially led to the Círculo de lectores - teatreros with about two hours late began: In the rain, did not trust the children from the houses.

The week was then dramatic, there is little new to report. On Friday I was driving up to Otavalo and met there with Polly and many of the other volunteers. I do not know why, but somehow it happened that we ended up in one of the discos OOtavalos. Salsa, Merengue and Reggaeton everywhere ...

On Saturday I went to Polly to Quito: There should arrive on Sunday Julian. But first, my anticipation for the visit and learned my happiness about the latest football results a damper. In the bus I had when boarding a young man pointed out that I do not my big backpack should stow in the overhead compartment, but under my seat. Said - done. In the bus I fell asleep at some point, when we arrive in Quito, I did nothing wrong. Only in the hostel I found that washing and wallet were missing. Over time, I also noticed the lack of rain poncho, sweater, belt. This is all not so important, with three hundred dollars is already a sum of money, which I did not want to do without necessarily. But annoying is that I fell to the thief who opened quietly a backpack, empty and could close it. Stupid also, that what I have to buy more here now - as with the weather a rain jacket - from the worst quality. Umbrellas, which according three weeks to resolve, rain jackets, the smell only after softening, but adjust to the body much like a suit of armor ...

I hope that I will someday again be asked to pack my backpack under the seat: This is a joke that I have to me more accurate (and meaner) think!

came on Sunday then Julian. The last two hours before that I was good for nothing, especially in high spirits and rather than turning. What is it but also for an event: with a former colleague, Nicaragua and now a very good friend comes to visit me in America and we have two weeks to travel to the country and make it unsafe!

After long trip was understandably exhausted the Lord, so that nothing other than a good dinner was on the program. On Monday we bought our jungle trip, which I will report soon and did not have much else, the rain of Quito made us a spanner in the works. On Tuesday we went to Baños, the approximately six hundred steps climbed to a vantage point up above the town and watched the Súper Clásico , decided the River Plate with one to zero against Boca Juniors for themselves. Today we will take the wheel direction / to Puyo and then start their way back to Quito, where we hope the friendly match between the Ecuadorian and Venezuelan national team could be seen; tickets go on sale on Monday had not yet started ...

Until then - now there's more!

Question of the doubt

DOUBTS ARE IMPORTANT. And I am convinced that the people who actually manage to live a life without at least questioning at times and occasionally end up in crises of meaning, doing something wrong - as comfortable a life free of doubt may be! On the other hand, too many doubts are probably just as much an advantage.

Currently I am again very close to struggle with what happened here so. The situation is somewhat tricky, and I can not foresee how it will go. After
I still am for the Circulos de lectores - teatreros responsible Pucará, closer to the offer for children, which we are hosting on Tuesdays and Thursdays, with the aim of the children reading and writing, being creative and the presentations. Successes are coming, but this is no longer surprising when you look at how the existing training program looks like: At school placed high value on drill, memorization and to parrot. Creativity seems rather fight than expected and encouraged to be. Accordingly, we start from nothing, and the freedom that we prefer the drill, is used quite happy.

Apart of this activity, which occurs in only two afternoons a week, getting involved as possible in Periódico INTAG . In the Sunday showing a number for the first time an item is to be read by me, and in the coming days and weeks I will be expected to reflect Article translated into German, so that the assets readers will not find in Germany news from Intag, without seeking this level of English to have. But working with the newspaper charged me not much.

course, I could say that the current situation is great: it gives me enough time to observe nature here in peace and enjoy to be able to relax and chat with me and encouraged the people can do to make trips, and so more of the country to know! And I try always to see things this way - to appreciate the positive and clear the doubts aside. But, I really do not succeed! I know that I can be here only to other people's expense and have the right to repay this support somehow. With a meaningful project!

There are two ideas for my work in Pucará that make sense in my eyes.
The first is a small library. In the old Casa Comunal that stands empty for years, would be enough space available to set up a small library. This would require the building to be renovated and furnished accordingly. Interesting for me alone because I could plan and coordinate the renovations, and design the future appearance of the library - a great exercise for me as an architecture student! For the Circulos de lectores - teatreros a suitable environment for the children and young people Pucarás a good extension of the poor educational provision and medium-to long-term work for maybe two pucareños . The case has two hooks: The first is money. Just the renovation will cost us some three thousand dollars, added money for furniture and books, and later for jobs with computer. Through platforms such betterplanet.com likely that most of these costs can be financed, and I hope for Christmas routine donations from Germany, once the big drum is agitated. But here's the second catch: We do not have any planning. The building is on the school grounds and therefore belongs to the Ministry of Education. Which we want a guarantee that we can use the building - to be able to safely leave, that we will pay the costs of renovation and also benefit yourself. Say: This is not the end of the school principal and "reclaim their" library without having bent a finger to have. Before this security is not there, I will not compete for donations. And as long as no donations are there, we can not start with the project. Unfortunately, it is more difficult than expected to get a commitment from the Ministry of Education: I could take care not about me, as a foreigner of no fixed address and no links to the Ministry, I have no control, no contact in the administration. Carolina, head of the newspaper and big proponent of the project wants to care for weeks about that one call. But either it reaches no one because it apparently worked only sporadically in the ministry, or they forget their purpose. Thus, I'm from Carolina, the presence of the authorities and ultimately dependent on their support.

The second idea for a project here comes from Peter. His desire is to educate the people in Pucará for waste separation and recycling. This project was started again - and immediately forgotten, when the then volunteer Pucará left! Peter has not forgotten this wish, however, and would be happy if I could finally put it into action. The idea itself says to me: not only to understand the residents Pucarás finally, that plastic bottles and bags is dangerous for them and their environment, but also because with its own waste separation possible to make money, this is absolutely necessary: there are companies that buy up the plastic waste and pay per pound! So we could set up a fund from which may be paid such as drugs, which are sorely needed here: diabetes, prostate disease and osteoporosis are here something like common diseases, and good medicines are in short supply. The problem with this project is quite simple: Peter is too rare in Pucará! I would not begin to familiarize myself with the issues, do the planning and end up with the certainty that the project will fail to leave. Rather, I consider that I Peter, who lives so far, at least sporadically here, can only support. Currently, however, this would be reversed, Peter can not contribute more than supportive.

I can say right now is not whether one can both possible and potentially useful projects are implemented. Equally skeptical I face the coming weeks and months. What if I still only do what I do now? Moreover, the little help that we offer here is often not appreciated and therefore useless, as you can see the example of the English school: in the meantime Andenbärprojekt are new volunteers, all of which no English and speak English are interested in a few hours. I was with them and set two of the four teachers and related dates agreed: On Monday evening the first hour would be held. Of the two teachers appeared not.

There is thus a discrepancy between words and actions of those who should benefit from the English school: While there was no possible students, I was often asked how we could get to work for the English teachers to these to practice and course to help money. And finally offers the opportunity to provide English instruction fails again all about the dependability of teachers. This is run after my delight, the teachers, to organize workshops and to promote students, not just bigger ... well

Finally it all ends in a vicious cycle: the anger about the situation on the ground means that if possible I am not in Pucará and, recently, going away. My absence means that nothing happened, what frustrates me when I returned to Pucará and would have an incentive to travel at the best right back. So that's at least for now: After a week on the coast I was a week here last weekend to go to Cayambe and from there to the thermal baths visiting from Papallacta. Now I will be only through Friday Pucará because I'm going to spend the weekend in Quito, where I will meet on Sunday, my true love. Julian, with whom I have worked in Nicaragua and in Berlin is my neighbor almost come to Ecuador for two weeks and is distracted by his presence during labor and slosigkeit. As long as Julian is here and Ecuador meets - a journey that is scheduled yet, I will report in soon! - To all readers was down this cultural tidbits to the heart. Despite my pleas

at the beginning of this record - the doubt the doubt - I hope that its caused by the last paragraph is not too much of my integrity questioned: Somehow I icg so in view of the whole situation and keep the desperation of water and the laughter ...

elections and holidays

were indicated as early as last Monday with great national security, the barangay elections. This is the lowest political level to the local level, much like the district and village elections. And although in our area on Negros actually very peaceful approaching, we had a lot of military in the city and there were checks on buses by the military in which the occupants were checked for weapons. There was also a church organized by the peace treaty between the official candidate. On election day has not worked and public consumption of alcohol was prohibited. Ultimately, everything went smoothly, at least in our region. Nationally, however, there were 33 dead, over 700 arrests and a quantity of seized weapons. The elections killed more people than the typhoon in the week before.
is now the nightmare over.
The city is decorated and everything is busy with the preparations of the forthcoming Pintaflores festivals. Previously would of course also Halloween and All Saints as relics of the various colonial powers. And there are also school holidays this week were already soccer tournaments on the spacious soccer fields instead of in front of City Hall. There is also the state of our Foundation, who are served through all these days away must. Since this is the most exciting task does not necessarily mean I burn not just to be there and will see what my mentor this week holds for me.
In my small laboratory I have already received last week finally awaited my instruction and filled to exercise with my teacher under the most sterile conditions, the first 80 jars with the culture medium and a small piece of potato seed. Now if I'm up again next time in the mountains, I would inspect the glasses excited and hoping for as few infected specimens. For as beautiful the conditions for the potato plantlets are so beautiful they are also for fungi, viruses and bacteria ...
In my greenhouse to grow I would soon be under less sterile conditions, but much more under realistic field conditions, different kinds of native plant and then later select the best, largely resistant mother plant and clone using the tissue culture laboratory in often. That was the theory.
was the Chief of our Foundation asked me at a meeting a few days, a further training in a tissue culure laboratory for sugar cane in sight.
I'm curious ...

After I've added recently, as another great special for my blog a currency converter I would now like to give some prices subject to change in Philippine pesos to get an idea of the material values to enter here.

Gay Cruise Spots In Charlotte,nc

settled ...

I am now for over a month in the Philippines and will have three full weeks of my life behind me, the höchstwarscheinlich resemble the next 47 weeks with very few exceptions. Even though I am here not so much with cultural differences in comparison to Germany occupied, and instead the similarities of people in a completely different environment, much more fascinating find, I would try my life to describe here, by describing the most obvious differences, as I just come to mind.
must first of all I say that the pocket money and food wwf einens here the average income of the people here significantly exceeds. This does not mean that I have the financial means to pay tourist prices and consume nothing but imported products, but it means at least that I, in addition to many other privileges in this respect the image of the white tourists still correspond. Our lodgings are exceptionally luxurious.
body care is relatively stressful, complicated because the showers with no running water, and I'm usually drenched in sweat after a short time yet again.
Since the food, as long as there are local products, very favorable, especially on weekends I eat lots often distributed to 4-5 meals.
As almost everyone here I have also my prepaid cell phone text message and write every week when I wrote a year in Germany, as this is very favorable compared to telephony.
The movement at the weekend in San Carlos success usually with a tricycle (motorcycle with a covered sidecar) or see large with the Pedicap (bicycle with sidecar). Both are very cheap and I am often torn whether I should run a route (very unusual here) or should I be chauffeured. In the sun I regret most of the former fast, morning or evening, however, it is a very relaxing diversion.
Based on my looks or my skin color I would of course welcome very often or mentioned, or get from passing Trycicles the famous "Hey Joe" to hear what I ignore either or increase in eye contact with an eyebrow and grin answer. If I get a tour of the new people are funny enough almost always a friend of one of our ww predecessor, but what makes the conversation started pleasantly.
After the laundry is excreted as too slow and too complicated, I have divided my clothes on my two residences, wash and dry in the morning from now on by hand and then let the clothes during the day in the sun.
Because, regardless of dengue fever, fairly be sensitive to mosquito bites I spray myself constantly with a variety of sprays and wince at every touch together by an insect.
How schonmal mentioned the traffic here quite different from Germany and when it comes to the breaking point of a vehicle, "is trying to study" the principle acted. Thus whole extended families find space on a motorcycle and buses use the roof for additional seats and additional storage space. The German / European regulations for securing the load I get pretty ridiculous in this context. In terms of my free time I have for the first read time, the opportunity in peace without distraction, listen to audio book, or write articles for my blog to be able (if I do not just eat). Since I became aware of this, I am extremely satisfied, even if laboratory work is still not started properly, the assistance provides a nice farm on the pattern of physical change at this time of leisure. Coming soon to San Carlos is "Fiesta" and already we have of the Foundation from a booth there and I do my colleagues there on the weekend immermal company, will probably soon but divided and laid on the care and must then explain visitors interested in our project approach and the biological products of our Demonstration farm for sale. Last Monday we were introduced at City Hall the most important people in the city. The mayor, who at that time was not in the house, we did yesterday then met yet. As for my activities, I can only by a very impressive visit to the cock-fighting arena and report less dramatic beach and park visits in the area of San Carlos. While I'm writing right here, behind me driving in the settlement of a truck with a marching band on it in circles. This loud conversation we owe the campaign to stand before the barangay elections, the lowest political level here. As far as the latest news from the secret center of power in the world. ;)

Tire Learning Suburban

arrival at the Manila project

On Wednesday, 23.09. I left Manila, together with 17 other Negros WWF and our mentor and I am after about an hour's flight in Bacolod on Negros Island landed. From there, the most by their respective Parterorganisationen were picked up. So also we, who have snuggled up to fourth in the cab of a pickup. The increasingly impressive views towards the mountains, but also the lack of English skills of our driver and the lack Cebuanokenntisse our part, brought with it a certain reticence. This changed abruptly when we were ahead of schedule, arrived at our project site. There we were already expected by some people and also directly to a Begrüßungspräsenation and Introductions assembled and in one of the surprisingly impressive building of our "model farm" in a gorgeous natural setting. While the other two WWF was further brought to the city, we had a very delicious and sumptuous meal the way the employees, but also our predecessors still know shortly. There was also the time for a short tour and the change of ownership of a guitar, before the two had to leave. They left all kinds of useful things in the household but also some open questions, some candid questions, some deliberately left open to us to influence our opinions. Our home here seems outwardly, but inside compared to the usual small bamboo houses here, almost feudal, and is only three years old. Since we were released for the rest of the week to settle us, we drove the next day by bus down to San Carlos zuzulegen to us food supplies. This trip was quite an experience, although the ride itself only takes about half an hour. The bus was quite empty and the driver seemed quite in a hurry, so you could enjoy the spectacular views along the "snake road" not really. Go down, we made our first experience in Trycicle and could just get to know our freshly rented weekend home, live in the other two wwf our organization permanently. The following weekend we used, after a brief Cebuano unit with an employee / mentors the opportunity and went back into the city to spend the night and the following Sunday to spend. The company there, was already in the surprisingly comfortable and fully furnished house very pleasant and helped with the processing of the many new impressions. Sunday we pulled together and then going to visit for the first time a Philippine beach on the small offshore island. After we noticed that most beaches are among resorts, you pay for the relatively high cost, we actually found a public beach, which corresponded but less of the travel brochure images. Nevertheless, we had a very nice day and I took the opportunity to pick my first coconut itself! After so much excitement it was back then too comfortable in our new home remote screen. While we are here first treated very carefully and looked after, so that no revision have been possible, we try as quickly as possible, learn as much Cebuano. A few words can break up the mood, or triggered by surprise and Schlagfertikeit great laughter. But just the fact that here in our workplace, only about half of the 8-10 staff speaks English, the Cebuanolernen makes a very meaningful issue. Although our Haubtaufgaben first start slowly, especially since I have a lot to learn, first, we help at the moment with everything that arises Sun So we have two days mainly planted trees and tried to us the many new Cebuano terms that are applied on all sides to impress us. Although no talk of everyday life can be, and here we have used at least at the biorhythms and I for one would like to start in my small lab with the potato breeding to pursue apart from the language of new goals and success experiences. Another overall goal here is by the Cebuano and the work of the (volunteer) to escape tourist role ...
Greetings from the island
Magnificent view from the bus to San Carlos. To see the island of Cebu Sipaway and Iceland in the background

04 Silverado Wheels For Sale

A mega-city of 12 million people ...
colorful and full of contrasts, part I thought I might as well be in the financial district of a major American city or an expensive scene-quarter of a major European city, sometimes I am overwhelmed by the chaos, the stench or the corner. The traffic funkioniert different and came to me first, before even completely chaotic. On a 6-lane road mostly 8 cars and 2 motorcycles go together, but there are amazing few accidents! The jeepney is the most conspicuous of transport and the main component of the ÖVN.
At the moment, that is mid-September have been running Christmas carols in the supermarket, I am almost anywhere from the always addressed in a large number of available workers in the supermarket, hotel and elsewhere with "Sir", which in view of their difference in age, very funny, sometimes distressing is. At the same time it does not seem rude to the waiter loudly singing karaoke during dinner ... :-) Have
picked out a few photos to represent the city as possible in its diversity, which, however, in this city and the small number of photos is really impossible ...
