Remove Ikea Wall Mirrors

Dominican Republic three months - a balance sheet and other

Long ago that you heard from me. For that I apologize!
But it happens a lot here and it is hardly time to sit down and recap
. Today I have my times but made an evening free and I will try
, you give a further glimpse into my life here. But I'll
divide the email into different chapters, to add a bit more to bring
structure in the matter. I hope you make reading. And now
's're off.

Advent and Christmas

Christmas is in 30 ° C heat of course does not like Christmas at home. Already in September was
here Christmas to find in the shops and the
decoration was in most homes already set up in October. It can be seen mainly colored lights in the windows and kitschy plastic trees in the houses. Also on the work we have begun to "beautify" the establishment. We have decorative handicrafts made from milk cartons and decorated the windows and a Christmas tree. A nursery was also established.

Thus began our Christmas season here. Sweeten, we will then be used
with a day in the kitchen. Vanilla and butter cookies were successfully mass produced
pay for a little Christmas spirit to leave.
Apart from Christmas here
was felt, however, not much, the morning of the 24th
December I spent with other volunteers in a shopping center
for it to start then went to the Christmas Eve activity.
With my family I went to a family friend, where we had lunch
. After that was a bit relaxed at home and I have
skyping my parents before we host one of my aunts went to
there to spend the evening. A few days earlier were "gnome" concluded that it has bought a gift. Since the family is very large (my host mother has 6 siblings and all children and some of which again Children), was so gewichtelt. My host mother and elders of the family has started and give her her gift Imp. This has in turn given the gift of his elves, etc. My gnome was the 7-year-old Alex, from whom I got some
earrings and matching pendant.

Then there was a kind of buffet with verschiedenstemFleisch, salads and rice and then the evening was even around. The time passed fairly quickly, but it was still a very different Christmas than in Germany. In the evening I'm still unpacking my presents, because of my host sister and host mother and I got a little packet from Germany were at home. All in all it was a very nice day, but for me no Christmas.

visit to the Haitian border:

In connection with an excursion to the southwest of the country we drove
also to the Haitian border. That was for me and all others who participated in the
excursion, a special experience! The relationship between
Haiti and the Dominican Republic is difficult. Due to numerous conflicts in the past
the opinion of the average Dominican towards the Haitians is marked negative. Haiti is a much poorer country than the Dominican Republic and there are so many illegal immigrants here in the Dom.Rep. as Construction and relief workers are working. As we now visited seven of the border, we were now accepting children who were begging for money or food
. We saw in the eyes of these children and the despair as
our travel guide to one boy a small bag of chips, gave the
more despair for a moment, a beam in his face. How happy
you can do these children with some food, I was very touched!

This experience at the border was indescribable, we who live in the Dominican Republic were
, and inspired by the very poor
opinion about the Haitians and had initially totally afraid to stand on the border strip
and forward it to connect. None of us really wanted to take his camera
, we felt extremely uncomfortable to face as a blonde, white girls of this poverty
. But nothing happened to us and when we finally got out of the car
, our skepticism vanished too.

This visit is very much in all of us moved and he was one of the best things
I have done here before. I have this much more about the two countries and their strained relationship
understood and seen that this is
aversion from a time that is long gone.

I have searched the Internet for an article you some
could provide background information, but unfortunately did not find any. In
Dumont Guide "Dominican Republic" is found, however, a good
essay called "The Republic and Haiti - a tough neighborhood."
very worth reading!

work and general situation:

After these two specific paragraphs I will give you a few sentences to
my general life here schreiben.Morgen after 2 ½ weeks of vacation back
my first day at work. The library was almost completed, with only a few stickers, glued and books are compared and then the project "library" finally finished! We are all very satisfied with our work and happy that we get it done so well.
If tomorrow I will go back to work, but two people are missing there.
The 2 girls who have been here since January with weltwärts go back this Saturday
to Germany. That will come for me and Nico of course first a
conversion and in February it for now 3 new volunteers to us.
So, then click here!

The last 2 weeks I spent mostly with Sarah and Nico, two other
volunteers. Sarah was with me in Norway and Nico
my colleague and best friend is here.
New Year's Eve we spent with almost all other volunteers at Arthur (a January-volunteers) and his family at home. There was celebrated with crowns and champagne from plastic glasses. Even without the fireworks was a nice evening! The place was
